🌟 A National Achievement for Our Learners!
As the year draws to a close, we’re celebrating a remarkable milestone that shows how opportunity and curiosity can change lives.
Our Grade 1–4 learners recently took part in the national Apple Excellence in Education competition, which invited schools across South Africa to showcase how they use iPads to bring learning to life. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, our teachers and learners could participate with confidence — and the results were outstanding!
From our Grade 3 class, Buntu and Priscilla’s e-Book project was selected as one of the top entries nationally in their category, and they were invited to the national awards evening in Johannesburg last week.
Thanks to a travel sponsorship by a generous donor, Buntu, Priscilla and their teacher, Ilze Meiring, were able to fly up to Gauteng and proudly represent The Kusasa Academy.
The girls were awarded third place – out of 225 submissions from schools across the country. Considering the calibre of schools that participated, this is a truly inspiring achievement!
✈️ A Journey of Firsts
Beyond the awards, the trip itself provided our girls with a profound and eye-opening experience. They carried themselves with grace and maturity throughout, impressing everyone they met—including Michelle Lissoos, Director of iStore Education South Africa, who personally expressed her admiration for what The Kusasa Academy has accomplished through the use of iPads. She also shared her intention to visit our school in the near future.
This journey was about much more than recognition—it has opened our learners’ eyes to possibilities. It was a trip filled with significant new experiences which have left lasting impressions — from their first flight to exploring the city, even their first ride in a lift!
As Teacher Ilze shared, “The biggest prize was being surrounded by so many successful people from all cultures — the girls experienced what life can be. It was life-changing.”
Moments like these remind us why we do what we do: to open doors of possibility and nurture the confidence to walk through them.
