At The Kusasa Academy, our team is committed to breaking the cycle of poverty by supporting under-resourced children at an early age and giving them the best start in life. Our dedicated staff focus on developing literacy, numeracy, and critical thinking skills while also providing opportunities for learners to build strong interpersonal skills, confidence, healthy self-esteem, and leadership abilities.

Understanding the socio-economic circumstances that our learners face, The Kusasa Academy provides an extensive support program that includes two nutritious meals per day, regular health checks, and therapy services—spanning speech, occupational, and psychological support. We also offer learning support and mentoring, alongside social interventions involving actively engaged family members.

With all the bustling going on, The Kusasa Academy eagerly welcomes interested visitors to the school. Principal Marie-Louise has mastered the art of an engaging tour, showcasing our facilities, graciously provided by our dedicated and unwavering donors. It is a proud moment to witness the amazement in newcomers’ eyes as they discover what The Kusasa Project is all about.

During Friday visits, decision-makers and top executives from various business sectors often find themselves captivated by our mission. Whether they are from overseas or local leaders, they recognise the profound value our school brings to the community and beyond. This engagement has led to partnerships with some remarkable local and international companies over the years, giving our deserving Kusasa-kids hope of a chance to thrive amidst the myriad social challenges facing their community.

And we need to link hands with even more businesses to ensure we can keep at it! The Kusasa Academy stands as an independent, non-profit school entirely dependent on donor funding. It costs about R45,000 per child each year to provide this comprehensive whole-child education.

The need for business support of early childhood development (ECD) has never been more urgent for our country. Research consistently shows that investing in ECD yields some of the highest returns for the very societies in which businesses operate. Our existing donors therefore know that investing in the work that we do to uplift our youth is a win-win for both The Kusasa Academy and their business. By donating to The Kusasa Project, companies are not just contributing to a school; they are investing in the future of South Africa. Each contribution helps us provide essential resources, skilled educators, and nurturing environments that foster growth, creativity, and learning in our youngest learners.
